Campaign Message:

Dear Bangladeshi Austinites,

I, Afsar Zaman (Kochi), am running for an ad-hoc committee membership in tomorrow’s election. I seek your vote and support in this endeavor.

I was born and raised in Dhaka. I earned my bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from BUET, and completed my Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering from Texas A&M, at College Station. Currently, I am working as a software engineer in BMC Software. I am married to Ayesha Zaman (Chtomoni) and a proud father of two wonderful kids - Farhan and Faria.

I have been living in Austin for last 9 years, and have no doubt in my mind that this is the best Bangladeshi community that can ever exist. I promise, I will not compromise to anything that can rupture this harmony and peace. At this point, I also feel that an association for Bangladeshi community is vital to represent us uniquely and to provide an official platform to share our interest, concern and voices.

If I get elected, I’ll work with my team to write by-laws that serves the interest of all part of our community. I believe, for a solid foundation - we need input from all the open-minded, impartial, constructive, best brains of this community, and I will do my best to solicit that input.

My next agenda - is to gather all important social and community information and layout the foundation of a website. I am sure this will benefit our community a lot!

Re. the association format - I am in favor of format B. I think Board of Directors format can run any organization most efficiently, but they also need executive officers for accountability and to make executive decision when BoD are in status-quo.

Finally, if I get elected, I will do my best to uphold your trust and do my job with integrity and honesty.

Thank you very much for your support!

Regards,
~Afsar Zaman (Kochi)
