Rashed Islam
Campaign Message:

Dear Bangladeshi Community Members,

I, Rashed Tanvir Islam, P.E., PTOE (some of you know me by my nickname Imon) am running for an ad-hoc committee membership in tomorrow's election.

I am a Principal at WHM Transportation Engineering where I serve in the role of Principal of Technical Operations, where I mentor a team of technical professionals to guide their personal and professional development. I obtained my Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and Bachelor’s from Bangladesh Institute of Technology.

I have lived in Austin for over 11 years and believe strongly that an Association for the BANGLADESHI community is essential to represent the interests of the community as a whole and not for any individual in one of the most diverse cities in the US. A strong united Bangladesh Association for the greater Austin area will be able to organize activities for the members to foster harmony and provide assistance to the members during trying times. The association can help us educate our younger generation about our culture and represent BANDGLADESH to the community in a positive way. A strong vibrant association will be a great vehicle in transferring technology and support to our homeland while assisting new students and professionals settle in Austin. If elected, I would aggressively work with the members of the community to solicit their active participation, ideas and suggestions to ensure that the Ad-Hoc committee: writes the by-laws in a transparent and ethical way, organizes different activities and stand shoulder to shoulder with the community members in need.

I was selected to serve on the Real Estate Council of Austin’s Leadership Development Council in 2005. I am currently a member of the Transportation Committee’s of the Real Estate Council of Austin and the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce.

I am married to my lovely wife, Laboni, and have two children, Rusama and Rahil. I am always an optimist and I would really appreciate your vote and support on July 15th. Thanks.
