BAGA Community Service Day; Thanks to the Community.
Dear Community Members:
We are extremely happy to organize a hugely successful BAGA Community Service Day on May 26, 2007. Thanks you all for coming.
Bangladesh Embassy Consular section was able to process over 70 passports on the Community Service Day...a huge number considering our community size. Even the consular employees were pleasantly surprised by the turnout! Congratulations to all who could avail this great opportunity.
Thanks to Dr. Nazrul Islam for presenting a very informative and highly participated Community Health Seminar. Special thanks to Dr. Firoza Talukdar for helping us prepare a handout with various health care options for uninsured or underinsured residents. We are in the process of compiling all the information we gathered. We will soon post the handout and Q&A in www.bagatx.org.
We also hosted a very lively discussion forum with the Bangladesh Embassy
representatives in the presence of a huge audience. Our voting rights, dual citizenship, upcoming immigration and trade bills in the US Congress, feedback from expatriate Bangladeshis on Embassy services and myriad of other issues were discussed. We already discussed one proposal that came out of the discussion forum with the acting Ambassador. Bangladesh Embassy may soon request BAGA to help update its webpage and upgrade the application process.
